Personal and family contributions

A top international training opens doors to a prosperous career. Funding such training is, for the student and his/her family, a very profitable investment on short term.

Students may be able to negotiate a loan from a bank, easy to pay back when their international training is complete.

Assistantships and part-time jobs

French law allows foreign students to work a maximum of 17 hours per week.

Assistantships

“n+i” network schools and institutions may offer, as much as possible, assistantships. Teaching and research assistants spend several hours each week working in the computing or documentation centre or as language tutors).

Usually, it is the student’s cultural contribution that is in demand—French students are enriched by their contacts with international students.

Part-time jobs

Students may also find jobs (as French students) outside the engineering Institute (part time jobs as language tutoring, translating, and working as a cook or babysitter).

Students should seek information about employment regulations and inform from their institutions.

Remember: engineering studies require steady full-time work. Don’t waste too much time or energy on student jobs!

Earnings, even if they are not taxable, must be declared to the French administration.
