Assistantships and part-time jobs

print

French law allows foreign students to work a maximum of 17 hours per week.

Assistantships

“n+i” network schools and institutions are committed, to the extent possible, to offering assistantships. Teaching and research assistants spend several hours each week working in the computing or documentation centre or as language tutors).

Usually, it is the student’s cultural contribution that is in demand—French students are enriched by their contacts with international students.

Part-time jobs

Schools can also help students look for jobs outside school (language tutoring, translating, and working as a cook or babysitter) and in complying with administrative requirements (tax returns, insurance, etc.).
Students should seek information about employment regulations from their institutions.

Remember: engineering studies require steady full-time work. Don’t waste too much time or energy on student jobs!

Earnings, even if they are not taxable, must be declared to the French administration.
