Scholarships from France

print

The French government provides grants and scholarships above and beyond the automatic aid enjoyed by all students in France, such as, for instance, the Scholarships from the French Embassies and the EIFFEL scholarships. All theses scholarships give the status of « Boursier du Gouvernement Français » BGF (French Government scholar)

Scholarships from French Embassies

These scholarships may differ from one country to another. Students must visit the website of the French Embassy of their own country to get more information.

There are different scholarships:

  • Scholarships for social insurance (la bourse de couverture sociale) covers the costs of insurances,
  • Incentive (la bourse d’incitation) which can help you to go to France. It is given during the first year in France, i.e. from July until December. This scholarship can be associated with regional scholarships or private funding (Companies).
  • A full scholarship which can cover your living expenses during your programme in France. These scholarships, under special indication given by the French Embassy or "n+i", may include the academic costs (tuition fees as well as packages for integration such as cultural integration, linguistic integration, methodological integration).

IMPORTANT :

1.    If you fail your exams, this may interrupt your scholarship,

2.  There are some possibilities of combination with others sources of funding (more information with « n+i » Network).

Eiffel scholarship

Schools will explore such financing for you once your application has been reviewed for completeness and accuracy.

Attention : EIFFEL scholarships are awarded for specific programmes having a specific timetable for completion. If you want to apply you must have completed your “electronic” file and sent your “paper” file in session 1.

You will have only 3 days (between Dec 9th and 12th 2009) to give your answer (see calendar)!

The EIFFEL scholarship programme, from the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MAEE), supports the efforts of French academic institutions to recruit outstanding foreign students. Complete information is available from EGIDE website (manager of the programme on behalf the MAEE)

Scholarship:

The scholarship’s base allowance is € 1 181 per month in 2009.

IMPORTANT : The EIFFEL Scholarship is managed, on behalf the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, by EGIDE: air flight tickets, welcome, transfer to the centre for French courses, and French courses (linguistic package) and finally the transfer to the engineering school in September.

The EIFFEL scholarship does not cover neither tuition fees (which must be paid directly by the student), nor specific programmes for integration such as proposed by the “n+i” network. These packages, if they are booked by the student, should be paid directly by him/her.

Travel:

Travel to France is funded by the scholarship and organized by Egide. Recipients must contact EGIDE to arrange for travel.

Students must inform EGIDE that they must arrive in Paris during the periods specified by “n+i”.

Background of candidates:

EIFFEL scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in postgraduate degree programmes (such as national masters or doctorate).

Eligibility of candidates:

Only foreign citizens are eligible for EIFFEL scholarships. (French citizens who also hold another citizenship are not eligible.) Applicants from emerging countries have priority.
