Polytech Paris-Sud is the engineering institute of the University Paris Sud and member of the Polytech network. Polytech Paris-Sud offers an engineering degree (Master degree) in four high-technology fields:
* Electronics and Embedded Systems
* Computer science
* Materials
* Optronics
Polytech Paris-Sud is located on the campus of the famous Science Faculty of Orsay, half an hour away from the centre of Paris. The Faculty is very well-known for many internationally renowned laboratories covering all the scientific disciplines. On the map, the school is at the crossroads between Rue Louis de Broglie and Rue Joliot Curie.
Like all Polytech schools, our strength comes from our dual culture:
Being a student at Polytech Paris-Sud, is to belong to a university that is at the forefront of global research in many fields of science and technology. Thus
Polytech Paris-Sud is located on the Saclay plateau (near Orsay) in the heart of a major technology center consisting of numerous research centers (CEA Saclay, Thales, Danone, Renault, Alcatel, Synchrotron Soleil, etc. ...).
Students holding a bachelor may be admitted directly into the 4th year and undergo two years training at Polytech Paris-Sud to receive the Engineer diploma (Master in Science and Engineering). Non-European students are advised to apply via the n+i network.
The following websites contain information on scholarships for international students who want to study in France:
All international students are encouraged to check with their own government to see if there are any scholarships available.
Traditionally, an engineering institute has a vibrant community life. This is the case for Polytech Paris-Sud, with several opportunities on the campus:
Université Paris-Sud 11 considers that a university should be a centre for the creation and diffusion of culture as well as being a centre for the creation and diffusion of knowledge. It is our policy to increase the number of scientific, artistic and sports activities offered and to make knowledge available to everyone. Cultural workshops are held for students and staff. Most workshops are held during the annual arts festival, "Printemps de la Culture", organised by the University. This festival includes amateur and professional shows from all branches of the arts.
The University also takes part in the national poetry week, held every March and entitled "Printemps des Poètes" Workshops run for 30 hours over two semesters and are led by professionals (dancers, directors, writers, journalists, actors, artists, musicians, and so on.). Most workshops are held on Orsay campus, but every year a cultural programme is run on each one of the sites of Université Paris-Sud.

On-campus restaurants and cafes provide reasonably cheap food and meals. Students can also have meals at Supelec restaurants, located just next to Polytech Paris-Sud.
On-campus restaurants are all managed by CROUS (an organisation in charge of Student welfare). They offer balanced meals at low prices.
The cafes are managed either by Polytech Paris-Sud students or by CROUS. They serve French simple fast-food dishes.
Each library on the various sites contains :
Once you have a valid student card, you can sign up at the library. You can read books in the library or borrow them. There is also an inter-library loan service, which should ensure that you find the book you need. The university library at the Faculty of Science (Orsay) holds numerous artistic and cultural exhibitions: feel free to take a look!
At the beginning of the academic year, many libraries run presentations to teach you how to search for documents. Remember to look out for posters at the beginning of the semester. They will tell you the dates and programs of these sessions. This is also the ideal opportunity to get to know the librarians, who will be at your service throughout the year.
