Introduction
INSA Toulouse is a state school under the authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. Its engineering courses last five years and students are admitted directly after the Baccalauréat and after 1, 2, 3 or 4 years of higher education

Created in 1963, the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse (INSA) is offering five-year MSc in Engineering courses with around 2500 students.

The INSA network, composed of 5 institutions based in Lyon, Rennes, Rouen, Strasbourg and Toulouse, is the largest network in France in terms of engineering education: each year, 12 % of French engineering graduates are from the INSAs.

460 engineering graduates each year in 10 specializations :

·       Automatic control, Electronics
·       Biochemical engineering
·       Civil engineering
·       Mathematical engineering
·       Mechanical engineering
·       Physics engineering
·       Chemical and Environmental engineering
·       Systems engineering
·       Computer engineering
·       Networks and Telecommunications

INSA Toulouse has two main goals:

To provide ‘initial’ engineering and continuing education programmes
To develop research activities through its 9 laboratories.
Campus
INSA is located in Toulouse, the second biggest university town in France, in Rangueil, on the science campus dedicated to scientific academic education and state-of-the-art research, 20 minutes by subway to the Place du Capitole, the centre of the city.

The technological environment of the school is first class. The cradle of the aeronautics and space industry, Toulouse has extended its know-how into fields such as electronics, health industries, agriculture-food industries, strategic services, information technologies…

With its geographical situation, close to the sea and the Pyrenees, its climate, its gastronomy, its cultural environment and tradition of success in sports, Toulouse offers its inhabitants an exceptional quality of life.
Highlights

At INSA Toulouse, students are encouraged to play an active role in their education and spend a significant part of their studies working on full-scale projects, according to the method tested successfully by scientific universities in the USA and northern Europe.

From the beginning of their studies, the students are guided step by step in the construction of a Personal Professional Project, in coherence with their centres of interest and abilities. Their involvement in associations and community activities are given full credit in their programme.

INSA Toulouse has established a skilful balance in the various fields of study: sciences and technology, general culture, human and social sciences, sports. The course has an international dimension, being organized according to the European model (Bachelor-Master-Doctorate) to facilitate international university exchanges.

In addition to technical skills in a specific field, INSA engineers acquire the skills required to integrate the industrial world easily, such as the ability to work in a team, to take on responsibility, to cooperate and to lead, to adapt to different professional contexts and cultures.

Via the n+i network and CampusFrance, INSA-Toulouse offers forty places in its year 4 to foreign graduates with a BSc in Engineering or equivalent. These students are fully integrated on the specialization programmes.

This programme is a two-year top-level engineering course for international students

Professional Network

Discovering company life - Professionalization of engineering studies at INSA Toulouse is guaranteed by:

  • 36 weeks in industry during the course (3 compulsory internships)
  • 10 % of courses given by professionals from industry
  • Specific courses (management, setting up a company…)
  • Events organized by students involving companies: Forum Toulouse Technologie, the ‘Future’ week
  • A junior enterprise, a real service company carrying out industrial projects

Business - Management - By motivating students to enter a competition for student business creators, by encouraging them to complete their scientific education with sound knowledge of management, by establishing partnerships or agreements with companies for internships, INSA is decidedly open to the economic and industrial world.

A ‘hotel’ for companies - INSA welcomes on its science park innovative start-ups in biotechnologies and nanotechnologies and, in partnership with the Centre Régionaux d’Innovation et de Transfert de Technologie, offers services adapted to very small companies.
