Supméca is an Institution of Higher Education and Research in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Supméca offers the last 3 years of a 5 year curriculum leading to the national Engineering degree (officially recognized by the national accreditation agency Commission du Titre d’Ingénieur, CTI), which is a Master degree in the European Bologna Process scheme. This degree also confers the professional title of engineer.

Campus

SUPMECA has two sites : one in Paris, one in Toulon, in southern France on the French riviera. There are 450 students in Paris and 120 in Toulon.

Highlights

A common core curriculum includes scientific subjects, such as Mathematics, and a wide range of fields in Mechanics (Fluid Mechanics…), Materials, CAD/CAM, Automation and Mechatronics as well as general subjects, such as Organization and Management, Quality, Communication, 2 mandatory foreign languages…In the last two years of the curriculum, students select one of the following specialization areas:

— Simulation in Mechanical Design.

— Modeling in Mechanical Engineering: tools and methods of numerical modeling.

— Mechatronics & Complex Systems.

— Simulation of Manufacturing Processes, materials and manufacturing processes.

— Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management.

Fundamental and applied industrial research is carried out by 70 people, (40 University Professors and Researchers and more than 20 Ph.D. students) in the Laboratoire d’Ingénierie des structures mécaniques et des matériaux (LISMMA), www.supmeca.fr/lismma/ : in the following fields:

CAD-CAM, Integrated design of Mechanical and Mechatronical Systems; Physics and materials; Tribology; Vibroacoustics; Mechanical Structures : Modeling, Identification, Health Control; Optimization of Manufacturing Systems and Logistics.

Strong links with French and foreign companies include: Industrial placements (technical & behavioural experience), Courses taught by engineers & managers from industry, Case studies, Research on contracts.

Registration

Supmeca has been a member of the n+i network since its creation. Non French speaking foreign students, holders of – or about to obtain - a Bachelor’s degree from a leading University in their home country are most welcome to apply via the website www.nplusi.com for the course program leading to the official Diplôme d’ingénieur – which is a Master Degree. They must be strongly motivated and have a good academic record in their home University.

Scholarships

Some scholarships can be obtained for some of the most outstanding students, depending on their profile and country of origin.

Tuition

Academic cost of the first year of the Master – M1 – : 1 800€ including health coverage and tutoring.

Academic cost of the second year of the Master – M2 – : 1 200€ including health coverage and tutoring.

Student Life

A variety of activities are offered to Supméca students through artistic, sport or technical associations: photo, video, football, rubgy, robotics, aerospace....

These associations organize a variety of cultural events, get togethers, "ski week" in the French Alps, car rallyes, etc.

Accommodation

The international office of Supméca helps all n+i students in finding an accommodation in the vicinity of the school. However due to limited availability of student residences in the Paris are, it cannot formally guarantee a room for everyone.

So far all Supméca n+i students had a room reserved at the time of their arrival.

Accommodation fees

In the Paris area, accommodation costs approximately 500 € per month for a fully-equiped studio flat or room.

Students usually receive a government student housing allowance of around 200 € a month. The application should be made on arrival only.

Supmeca receives each year altogether 20 to 25 foreign students:

- a dozen students who have completed their previous higher studies in the French system.

- 5 to 10 students recruited through a bilateral partnership between Supmeca end their home university

- 3 to 10 students recruited through the n+i scheme.

SUPMECA has been an active member of the n+i network since this network was created.

Supmeca has regularly recruited students - from various countries such as China, Egypt, Russia, Hungary, Iran, etc..- under the n+i scheme. All of them have completed their studies succesfully.
