Telecom Saint Etienne is one of the most prestigious graduate engineering schools ("Grandes Ecoles") in the Rhône-Alpes region, the second economic region in France. It is a public institution, under the aegis of the Ministry for higher education and research and is a member of the Institut Telecom. Telecom Saint Etienne is located in the town of Saint-Etienne, in the Rhône-Alpes Region. Its population has a tradition of hospitality only to be found in towns of this human scale. You will enjoy here a vast range of cultural and sports activities. Leisure parks with tracks for mountain biking, hiking, skiing as well as a nautical base for sailing, are just 15 minutes away from the university. According to its size, Saint Etienne is the 14th town in France with 180 000 inhabitants in a greater urban district of 540 000 inhabitants. Just 60 km away, Lyon is within easy reach, as is Grenoble some 150 km away, while Paris and French Riviera are only a 2h40 train journey

Projects and active pedagogy

Telecom Saint Etienne is the leading French Graduate Engineering School in active pedagogy. This pedagogy is based on the principle that students be in charge of their own training and develop their own competencies. In other words, they participate directly in their own learning by questioning their environment and by seeking, sharing and validating information. Conferences and cultural seminar are proposed during the whole year to help students to prepare his/her industrial placement.

An international and multicultural environment

At Telecom Saint Etienne, international activities are a basic part of the curriculum, and a major asset for careers. More than 40% of our students are Internationals (from 20+ countries).

Professional Network

Registration

Telecom Saint Etienne has been working closely with the n+i network for many years. Telecom Saint Etienne is in charge of the adaptation nplusi semester in Electronic from 2003 and in telecommunication in 2009. About 15 students every year, coming from several French Engineers Schools are studying in Saint Etienne for few months. Students in the adaptation semesters have specific courses and projects with experienced professors.

Each student has a student tutoring and attends to lectures and labs with other French students.

Important Dates

The application is before April. All candidates have an interview between June and July.

Scholarships

There is no scholarship offered. Telecom Saint Etienne helps students to partially finance their studies by proposing some student work inside the school.

Student Life

Situated in one of the most beautiful and green campuses Telecom Saint Etienne provides its students with a setting propitious to work as well as to community living and doing sport.

The animated on-campus life is due to the dynamism of the students who organize many activities and cultural events such as: sports tournaments with other universities, "Junior enterprise", careers fair, music festival, Gala evening, trips, etc. They also join in important national competitions such as the Robotics cup and Telecom Institute Cup.

Accomodation

Most students are offered the possibility of campus accommodation in the Student residences. Saint Etienne offers many private accommodations with low price inside the city center and close to the campus. Telecom Saint Etienne has agreements with private accommodations and international residences.

The Pole International is in charge of international students to find accommodation, to help students for the immigration application.

Accomodation fees

Average monthly rent including all service charges is between 100 and 375 euros depending on the type of accommodation. Most students (French and international students) are eligible for student accommodation state benefit.

Partnership with n+i

Telecom Saint Etienne plays a major part in the n+I network. From 2004 Telecom Saint Etienne organizes an integration semester in Electronics every year in partnership with ESIEE and ENSEA. During 6 months, all students have intensive French courses in: mathematics, digital electronics, analog Electronics, computer architectures, personal projects, French language, French culture and history, communication and sport.

Telecom Saint Etienne is a member of the Institut Telecom together with Telecom ParisTech Telecom SudParis and Telecom Bretagne. Telecom Saint Etienne has more than 30 erasmus and bilateral agreement with international universities.
