Description M1
An engineer of Polytech'Nantes who specializes in thermal and energy sciences is a generalist engineer who has a solid understanding of thermal engineering and energy. The mastery of the scientific and technical methods and tools of this field lies at the heart of an engineer's education. Students develop a number of skills including the design and optimisation of thermal and energetic systems and industrial processes or installations where energy conversions and heat transfer play a major role. More specific instruction appeals to the scientific disciplines of thermodynamics, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and energy transfer. Such a scientific and technical education is sufficiently general to lead students on to a wide range of functions in the industrial sector, particularly those positions involved in energy production and thermal engineering, as well as transport industries (aeronautics, automobiles), the building industry and mechanical construction.
