Master’s courses

The “n+i” network master’s courses are directed at engineering students and young engineers with a first degree (or a qualification considered equivalent by the “n+i” network).
Master’s degrees are acknowledged internationally thanks to the Bologna process.
Under European rules, Master’s courses are required to be comprised of 120 credits (see ECTS) after the first degree, over two years, which we shall call M1 and M2.

The “n+i” network and its members take sole charge of assessing the correspondence of your country’s credits with European credits and their relevance to the course you are applying for.

In 90% of cases, the M1 and M2 parts each comprise two periods of equal length, known as M1a and M1b, M2a and M2b. In some cases candidates will be required to take a special course over the summer which is part of the overall degree.

NB: In some cases, credits will be not be divided equally between each part (eg. M1 of 45 ECTS and M2 of 75 ECTS). In this instance, the M2 may last 12 months.

NoteThese two Master’s courses enable you to apply for a PhD course. Find the right laboratory using “n+i”s search engine.
Students and young engineers may choose between 2 different Master’s degree courses:

  • The “n+” Masters, also known as a Master’s with Honours: an engineering degree awarded by a prestigious school.
  • The “i” Masters: a more specialised course, focused on a scientific or technological field.

Important note: When you apply, you may specify your preference but the “n+i” network schools will offer a place on the course they deem most suitable for you. You may choose from the offers you receive.
